Project: Geek Crafting
I began a video blog earlier this year. I actually got about six episodes in before I became overwhelmed with things to do and regretfully stopped.
I don’t want to say it was dumb, at least not outright. It all began with good intention and a solid purpose: self-improvement. A reasonable, rational, and even attainable goal. The rub, of course, is that I wasn’t improving anything; I was simply making more work for myself, losing time and feeling pretty darn silly in the process.
Enter convention season and the inevitable rush to finish a multitude of costumes, artwork and crafts. I shot one video blog about my entry for the Phoenix Comicon Badge Art Contest and then simply got too busy finishing it and other pieces for the booth.
I am not sure why it took so long for the idea to dawn on me, but I realized I ought to simply blog about my projects. I am just always working on something, be it a costume, a drawing, a prop, or a recipe. So, to fulfill promises to several friends to keep them posted on my progress, for the benefit of fellow costumers, and for my own desire to document the process… I present Geek Crafting, my weekly video journal-blog-thing.
